A smoking cabinet can be many things…

The Edwardian smoking cabinet is a place where turn of the century gentleman may go, once he has retired from dinner with the wife, to indulge in a naughty, bizarre cinematic treat hidden at the back of the cabinet, behind the cigarettes.

The surreal smoking cabinet is an object on fire - as a symbol of normality turned on its head - a whirling, toxic mist emerging from something locked up, and seemingly rather functional and staid, or possibly quite grandiose and ornate.

The cartoon smoking cabinet is either a wisecracking, functionalist little brown thing with little arms and stumpy legs that hops about the place smoking a chewed up cigar, or a long, tall and elegant stained glass ornament, with a down turned mouth and a rather haughty attitude that glides across polished floors. This cabinet uses a cigarette holder, dear boy.

The wild west smoking cabinet is aglowing and full of hidden treasures locked away; it’s been shot by a silver handgun in a bar brawl (or possibly some Dadaist cabaret) and is therefore smoking.
